The Orpheus Texts Journalist of the Year, 2023, is Awarded to the Romanian journalist Camelia Văcaru, “for exemplary journalism that embodies integrity, courage, and an unwavering commitment to truth and societal enlightenment.”

Camelia Văcaru, a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism and Commu-nication Sciences at the University of Bucharest in 2006, boasts a distinguished career in television spanning nearly two decades. Her journey in the media industry has seen her evolve from a reporter to a producer and presenter, showcasing a vast array of skills including organization, time management, and creativity. Văcaru’s extensive experience in cultural journalism has enabled her to effectively disseminate quality information and cater to the emotional needs of viewers.

Despite her long-standing career, she remains committed to continuous learning and applies her acquired knowledge to enhance the shows she works on for Romanian Public Television. Since July 2013, Văcaru has been a key figure in promoting the stories, culture, and traditions of ethnic minorities in Romania. She hosts the live broadcast of the Conviețuiri show every Wednesday on TVR 1, demonstrating her passion for video editing and cultural projects.

Her involvement in television extends beyond hosting, as she actively participates in all aspects of production, including field filming, text editing, voice-over, and video editing.
